M80 sweep Luminosity to win Roman Imperium Cup VIII

M80 won the Roman Imperium Cup VIII title in Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal, on Sept. 13 after sweeping Luminosity 13-10 on Dust2 and 13-10 on Cache. The team collected the $6,968 first prize and moved up 17 places in the VRS rankings.

Seeded directly into the double-elimination playoff, M80 began the LAN on Sept. 11 with a 2-1 win over 6666. They followed that with a 2-0 victory against Iberian Soul on Sept. 12. On Sept. 13 M80 lost the upper-bracket final to Luminosity 1-2, then beat Iberian Soul 2-0 in the consolidation final to reach the grand final.

In the title match, M80 won both maps 13-10, first on Dust2 and then on Cache, to secure the trophy without dropping a map in the decider.

Several M80 players produced notable numbers across the event. Fritz “slaxz-” Dietrich finished the final with a 35-22 kill-death line and a 1.17 Rating3.0. Elias “s1n” Stein posted 33-30 and a 1.11 rating, while Josh “JBa” Barutt recorded 24-29 with a 1.10 rating. Michael “Swisher” Schmid and Mason “Lake” Sanderson also contributed with 28-25 (1.05) and 30-28 (0.99), respectively. For Luminosity, Lucas “lux” Meneghini ended the event 36-30 with a 1.12 rating and Oscar “AZUWU” Bell finished 29-31 with a 1.10 rating.

The Roman Imperium Cup VIII took place from Sept. 11–13 as an in-person event using a double-elimination playoff. The win is M80’s third LAN title of 2026, following trophies at fl0m Mythical LAN and DraculaN Season 6. The team is scheduled to compete next at Logitech G Play Connect in Warsaw, Poland, starting Sept. 17.
