M80 acquires Boston Breach, will compete as M80 Boston in 2026

M80 has acquired the Boston Breach franchise and will field the team as M80 Boston in the 2026 Call of Duty League. The organization plans to base operations in Greater Boston, making it the league’s only franchise in New England.

The acquisition was announced Aug. 27, 2026. The team will begin competition when the CDL season starts alongside the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 on Oct. 23, 2026. Financial terms were not disclosed. M80 cited recent growth in league viewership and preparations for the new season as reasons for joining the league.

The organization plans to expand local engagement with events, watch parties, partnerships with collegiate and amateur teams and collaborations with local businesses to build a regional fanbase in Massachusetts and across New England.

The deal includes leadership and ownership changes. Adam Morrison, co-founder of Oxygen Esports, took an ownership stake in M80 and will serve as chief commercial officer responsible for partnerships, sponsorship sales, media-rights initiatives and revenue growth. Richard Nino, a former executive at Fiera Capital, joined M80 as a strategic investor and senior advisor to raise institutional capital and plan long-term finance. Kevin Conroy, who led digital platform strategy at MGM and has experience at Univision and AOL, joined the board to advise on media, entertainment and original content.

M80 currently competes in Counter-Strike 2, VALORANT, Rainbow Six Siege, Rocket League and 2XKO. Adding a Call of Duty League franchise expands the organization’s competitive slate to six titles. The organization described the acquisition as the largest transaction in its history. Last year M80 invested in an esports training camp in partnership with IMG Academy in Florida that offers training across multiple game titles.

Boston Breach had been operated by Oxygen Esports before the sale. The announcement did not include direct quotes from M80 executives or representatives of the former Boston Breach.
