Aurora eliminate G2 after three-map IEM Beijing battle

Aurora eliminated G2 from IEM Beijing with a 2-1 victory, winning Nuke 13-9 and Dust2 16-13 after G2 took Inferno 13-9.

Aurora gained an early advantage on Nuke, while G2 struggled to maintain its defensive setups. G2 responded on Inferno to force a decider, then took Dust2 into overtime. Aurora won the final map to end G2’s tournament run.

Ali “Wicadia” Haydar Yalçın led Aurora with 60 kills and a 1.30 rating. He recorded 26 kills on Dust2. G2’s top performers were Nikita “HeavyGod” Martynenko and Guy “NertZ” Iluz, who finished the series with ratings of 1.24 and 1.20, respectively.

Nemanja “huNter-” Kovač helped G2 stay in contention with an ace on Dust2. Artem “r1nkle” Moroz finished the series with 29 kills and a 0.66 rating.

The result was G2’s third consecutive group-stage exit since the team reached the FISSURE Playground 3 final in September. Across ESL Pro League Season 24, PGL Bucharest and IEM Beijing, G2 have won one of nine series. That victory came against ShindeN.

G2 coach Eetu “sAw” Saha previously described the team as “stagnating” after its result in Bucharest, citing poor decisions and a lack of coordination in late-round situations.

G2 will next face MOUZ at BLAST Rivals in Hong Kong before beginning its Singapore Major Stage 2 campaign. Aurora remain in IEM Beijing and will face the loser of MOUZ versus BETBOOM in the lower-bracket semifinals.
