Dambi Reportedly Set To Join Gen.G For 2027

Lee “Dambi” Hyuk-kyu is reportedly set to join Gen.G for VCT 2027 after the team confirmed the departures of Ash, Efina and coach peri.

Lee “Dambi” Hyuk-kyu is reportedly set to join Gen.G’s VALORANT roster for the 2027 VCT season. Gen.G confirmed on Nov. 3 that Ha “Ash” Hyun-cheol, Kim “Efina” Nak-yeon and coach Jung “peri” Beom-gi had left after their contracts expired.

Gen.G has not confirmed Dambi’s signing. Nongshim RedForce confirmed the Korean duelist’s departure on Nov. 3 after he received permission on Oct. 20 to explore offers while continuing discussions with the organization.

Dambi leaves Nongshim after its strongest season since entering VCT Pacific. The team won Pacific Kickoff and then defeated Paper Rex 3-0 in the Masters Santiago final. Dambi was named the tournament’s MVP after his performances on Neon.

Nongshim also finished third at the Esports World Cup, reached the Pacific Stage 2 final and advanced to the playoffs at VALORANT Champions Shanghai. The organization was not selected for the 2027-2028 VCT partnership cycle.

Gen.G retained its place among Pacific’s eight partnered organizations. A completed transfer would keep Dambi in the partnered league for the 2027 season.

Ash joined Gen.G’s main roster in March 2025 after being promoted from Gen.G Global Academy. He remained with the team throughout the 2026 season.

Efina joined Gen.G on July 9, 2026, alongside Kim “Raxcal” Min-seok, during the team’s midseason roster changes. He became the team’s in-game leader after Kim “Lakia” Jong-min left. Efina said on Oct. 28 that Gen.G had allowed him to consider other opportunities before his contract expired.

Peri joined Gen.G in December 2024 and renewed his contract during the 2025 offseason. His departure leaves an opening on the coaching staff.

The reported 2027 roster includes Dambi, Kim “t3xture” Na-ra and Kim “Karon” Won-tae. T3xture remains under contract through 2027, while Karon’s contract extension was reported on Nov. 3. Kim “HSK” Hae-seong is expected to remain coach through 2027. Jung “Xiesta” Si-hwan, who joined Gen.G in February 2026, is expected to serve as a substitute.

Two starting positions would remain open under the reported roster plan. Gen.G has not confirmed Dambi’s signing, its full 2027 lineup or the next in-game leader.

Gen.G finished ninth to 10th at Pacific Kickoff and 11th to 12th in Stage 1. The team went 5-0 in the Stage 2 group stage before losing 2-1 to Nongshim on Aug. 27 and 2-0 to T1 on Aug. 29. The results ended Gen.G’s season without an international appearance or a place at Champions Shanghai.
