Techno: The MongolZ feel like they have two IGLs
The MongolZ beat Legacy 2-1 at IEM Beijing after losing Mirage in overtime. Techno credited nin9’s leadership experience with giving the team a second in-game leader.
The MongolZ opened their IEM Beijing campaign with a 2-1 victory over Legacy, recovering from an overtime loss on Mirage to win the series.
Sodbayar “Techno” Munkhbold attributed the team’s problems on Mirage to a busy schedule and limited practice with the current lineup. Legacy won several rounds on the T side, where The MongolZ struggled to execute their plans.
“On Mirage actually, we were not ourselves and we lost so many rounds on the T side,” Techno said. “I think it’s because maybe we had a really busy schedule the recent days and couldn’t play with the team together.”
The victory followed The MongolZ’s title at the 1win Private Club, their first event with the new lineup. The team then had a more difficult run in Bucharest. Techno added that The MongolZ had fallen in the Valve Regional Standings since the previous Major but had returned to the top 20.
Yesuntumur “nin9” Gantulga previously played with Techno at IHC about four years ago. Since then, nin9 has become an in-game leader with The Huns, adding leadership experience to The MongolZ’s lineup.
“It almost feels like we are playing with two IGLs,” Techno said. He noted that bLitz remains the team’s primary in-game leader, while nin9 can provide direction on B sites when the team plays together.
The MongolZ will miss BLAST Rivals in Hong Kong, giving them additional time to prepare for the Singapore Major. The team has not decided where it will practice. Possible locations include Mongolia, Hong Kong and Vietnam, while European teams are also expected to travel to Asia for practice before the Major.
