Snax leads GamerLegion to IEM Atlanta final
GamerLegion beat Legacy at IEM Atlanta to reach the $1,000,000 event final as Janusz “Snax” Pogorzelski’s T-side calls on Ancient and Inferno defined the series.
GamerLegion defeated Legacy at the playoff stage of IEM Atlanta to secure a place in the grand final of the $1,000,000 event. Janusz “Snax” Pogorzelski’s T-side calls produced an 8-4 advantage on Ancient and a 7-0 run on Inferno that closed the decider.
The series was decided by GamerLegion’s T-side performance, with the team converting key rounds on both map picks. The match confirmed GamerLegion as one of the two finalists who will compete for the tournament title and the top prize.
Snax returns to a notable final in Atlanta more than nine years after his Virtus.pro squad lost to Astralis at the ELEAGUE Major. The veteran’s in-game decisions influenced several of GamerLegion’s decisive stretches.
Individual statistics showed a balanced effort from GamerLegion. Sebastian ‘Tauson’ Tauson led the team with a 38-37 K-D line and a 1.27 rating. Fredrik ‘REZ’ Sterner recorded 40 kills, an 86.0 ADR and a 1.14 rating. Milan ‘hypex’ Polowiechy finished 30-33 with a 1.02 rating, Oldřich ‘PR’ Nový posted 35-33 with a 1.00 rating, and Snax ended 36-41 with a 0.91 rating. For Legacy, Eduardo ‘dumau’ Wolkmer produced 49 kills with a 49-42 line and a 1.26 rating. Guilherme ‘saadzin’ Pacheco had 40-29 and a 1.14 rating, Bruno ‘latto’ Rebelatto 34-34 and 1.05, Andrei ‘arT’ Piovezan 37-41 and 0.87, and Vinicius ‘n1ssim’ Pereira 25-33 and 0.76.
Legacy entered the match on a seven-series winning streak after adding Alan ‘adrrr’ Riveros as a temporary coach, including a group-stage victory over Natus Vincere. The streak increased expectations for Legacy going into the playoffs.
The match featured several notable rounds. PR punished n1ssim’s jump spot, arT produced a four-kill round to rescue an anti-eco and later an ace that extended a Legacy streak. Dumau recorded multiple triple-entry plays on B sites, latto won a 1v3 to keep Legacy rolling at times, and hypex closed a 1v2 clutch that helped GamerLegion maintain pressure before the final Inferno run.
REZ told the desk after the match that Snax adds composure and steadiness to the team and that extended time on stage has helped the younger players. He said, “Snax brings a lot of experience and calmness. Going deep into events, PR and hypex get more time on stage, that’s really important against good tier one teams. Everyone is able to control emotions more now, we’re more disciplined than before when we choked. We have composure now, and know what to do in the crucial moments.” Dumau pointed to a loss of momentum for Legacy on Inferno and noted that bad decisions and economy swings hurt the team: “On Inferno, it’s always chaos, it’s about IQ and adrenaline. Some bad decisions can affect the team. The economy, when you lose momentum, makes it worse.”
GamerLegion will face either BetBoom or Natus Vincere in the IEM Atlanta grand final tomorrow night. For GamerLegion’s younger core, the appearance is a first grand final at a major international event; for Snax it is a return to a big-stage final in Atlanta after more than a decade.
