IEM Atlanta: 16 teams, $1M prize — Vitality seek sixth win

IEM Atlanta runs May 11–17 in Atlanta with 16 teams and a $1,000,000 prize pool. Vitality enter having won the last five events they attended.
IEM Atlanta takes place May 11–17 in Atlanta with 16 teams competing for a $1,000,000 prize pool. The weeklong Counter-Strike event will award ranking points and prize money across group stages and a single-elimination playoff bracket.
The tournament uses two best-of-three double-elimination groups of eight teams. Group winners advance directly to the semi-finals, while second- and third-place teams move into a four-team quarter-final. Playoff matches are single-elimination best-of-three through the third-place match, and the grand final is a best-of-five.
The event opens Monday, May 11, with eight best-of-three matches on the schedule. Opening-day matchups include Vitality versus BC.Game, Natus Vincere against Passion UA, and Liquid facing Astralis, with play continuing through the week to the Sunday finale.
Vitality arrive having won the last five attended events with Dan “apEX” Madesclaire leading the roster. Natus Vincere sit near the top of the rankings and were runners-up to Vitality in their most recent meeting, a 0-3 result in the BLAST Rivals grand final. Organizers note IEM Atlanta overlaps with PGL Astana, so the field does not include every top squad worldwide, though it features the current No. 1 and No. 2 teams.
The $1,000,000 prize pool is split between player shares and club shares. The champions receive $125,000 in player payouts and $170,000 for the club. The runner-up player payout is $50,000 with a $120,000 club share. Third place pays $30,000 to players and $95,000 to the club. Player shares continue down the standings with smaller amounts for lower placings and a specific split policy for the last-place team.
Production and broadcast staff for the event include analysts Janko “YNk” Paunović, Jacob “Pimp” Winneche and Michael “YouM3” Cassidy. The presenter and sideline group lists Freya “Freya” Spiers, Tres “stunna” Saranthus and former pro Martin “STYKO” Styk. Commentators on the desk include Chad “SPUNJ” Burchill, Alex “Machine” Richardson and Jason “moses” O’Toole among others.
Organizers are running a single fantasy game covering the entire event rather than separate group and playoff contests. The consolidated fantasy format reflects the tournament schedule and the concurrent event in Astana. Prizes sponsored by Hellcase include in-game weapon skins such as a Huntsman Knife | Bright Water and an AWP | Hyper Beast.
Play concludes Sunday, May 17, with the best-of-five grand final determining the champion.
