FUT lose round after mouse malfunction at VALORANT Champions

FUT Esports lost a round at VALORANT Champions Shanghai 2026 after Doğan “xeus” Gözgen’s mouse failed during a duel; officials kept the result after a technical pause.

Doğan “xeus” Gözgen’s mouse failed during a duel and cost FUT Esports a round in their winners match against 100 Thieves at VALORANT Champions Shanghai 2026. The incident occurred on Wednesday early on the first map, Split. Match officials stopped play for a technical pause but, when play resumed, the original round result stood.

After taking the opening round, FUT were looking to extend their lead when xeus appeared to experience a mouse malfunction while trading shots with Jordan “vora” Pulwer. xeus was unable to fire and was eliminated; 100 Thieves won the round and play was paused immediately afterwards. Officials did not roll back the round or award the victory to FUT.

Organizers referenced Rule 10.2.3 of the VCT rulebook, which requires both teams to finish a round in most interruptions and directs league officials to evaluate circumstances during a technical pause. The rule also states interruptions occurring after a player’s agent has been eliminated will not be considered for restoration and that officials may, at their sole discretion, award a round victory if they determine a team had already undisputedly won the round at the time of the interruption. Tournament staff have not published a detailed explanation of how those criteria were applied in this instance.

Fans and commentators reacted on social platforms, criticizing the decision. Posts included “Crazy decision. Even replaying the round would have been better for 100T than what actually happened,” and “FUT were probably looking at a 3-0 start with a much better economy if that round goes normally.” Other users described losing an anti-eco because of a mouse failure as “insanely tilting.”

Champions Shanghai had earlier seen hardware and input problems. Players reported PC freezes and issues with mice and other input devices. Riot Games investigated those reports and identified interference from metallic components in stage desks. Event staff applied a temporary fix and announced plans to rebuild the PC desks; Riot later reported no further interruptions after the interim changes. There has been no confirmation that xeus’s mouse issue was caused by the same interference.

100 Thieves won the series 2-0 and secured a direct spot in the VALORANT Champions 2026 playoffs. FUT Esports is not eliminated and moved to the Group A decider, where it has another opportunity to qualify. Organizers have not released a full account of their decision to keep the original round result.
