G2 Calls Shanghai ‘Possible Final Run’ After Opening Win

G2 Esports opened its Group C campaign at VALORANT Champions Shanghai with a 2–0 win over TYLOO on Sept. 24. The tournament runs in Shanghai from Sept. 24 to Oct. 18 and G2 held a pre-event press conference on Sept. 23.

Andrej “BABYBAY” Francisty told reporters on Sept. 23 that offseason uncertainty and possible partnership changes had sharpened the squad’s focus. “For some of us, it does feel like it’s the last ride,” he said. He did not confirm any roster moves.

The team arrived in Shanghai a few days early and used gradual schedule adjustments practiced throughout the year to limit jet lag. Francisty described the method as shifting routines toward local time without overtaxing players and noted the team had used a similar approach before a recent trip to Santiago. By the press conference he reported the players were sleeping at suitable times and had overcome most travel effects.

In the opening match, Francisty singled out TYLOO player slowly for his speed and mechanics and acknowledged TYLOO pushed back during the maps. He credited in-game support from teammates and cited practice sessions against LOUD, whose Lotus composition matched TYLOO’s, as useful preparation.

G2 advanced to the group winners’ match. Group C also includes Team Liquid and Paper Rex. After the match Francisty thanked the Shanghai and Chinese fans for their support.
