Esports World Cup invites 28 teams to Paris, includes MongolZ
Esports World Cup invited 28 teams to Paris for its third $2 million championship, including Natus Vincere and The MongolZ; four spots will be decided in an on-site qualifier Aug. 7–9.
Organizers announced the 28 invited teams on the Esports World Cup website and confirmed places for previous champions Natus Vincere and The MongolZ for the third edition of the event. The headline competition carries a $2,000,000 prize pool and the main tournament is scheduled for Aug. 12–23 in Paris.
All eligible invitees accepted their invitations. The MongolZ received a regional invitation alongside M80, FURIA, Legacy, TYLOO and Wildcard. Lynn Vision earned its place by winning the Hero Esports Asian Champions League. Four remaining berths will be filled through an on-site Esports World Cup Open Qualifier in Paris from Aug. 7–9, days before the main event.
The Paris edition is the first time the Esports World Cup is staged outside Riyadh. The wider Esports World Cup festival, with a reported $75 million budget, was relocated to France in response to the ongoing conflict in Iran. Organizers have not released the full match schedule or detailed venue information beyond the qualifier dates.
The open qualifier will complete the 28-team field and the tournament will proceed with a mix of direct invites and teams that earned qualification through regional events and the Paris LAN qualifier.
