VCT EMEA Stage 2 adds Challenger route, Berlin Playoffs

Riot Games will start VCT EMEA Stage 2 on 15 July 2026, adding four Challenger teams into Play-Ins; Playoffs run in Berlin from 20–23 August and Finals will be live in Barcelona.

Riot Games announced the format and schedule for VCT EMEA Stage 2, which begins on 15 July 2026. The competition will include Challenger teams in the Play-Ins, hold Playoffs in Berlin from 20–23 August, and conclude with live Finals in Barcelona. Teams will compete for qualification spots to VALORANT Champions Shanghai.

The event opens with a three-week Group Stage running through 2 August. The 12 partnered VCT EMEA organisations are split into two groups of six. Matches will be broadcast Wednesday through Sunday. The top two teams from each group advance directly to the Playoffs. The other eight partnered teams move into the Play-Ins, scheduled for 6–16 August.

Play-Ins will include four tier-two teams that qualify through Challengers EMEA Stage 3 and the Last Chance Qualifier. Those four will join the eight partnered teams in a double-elimination bracket. Partnered and Challenger organisations will compete in the same bracket for the remaining Playoffs slots, providing a direct route for lower-tier teams into the regional championship bracket.

The final eight teams will meet at the Arena Stage in Berlin for a double-elimination Playoffs from 20 to 23 August. Tickets for the Berlin event go on sale 8 July. The top teams from Berlin will advance to the season-closing live Finals in Barcelona, where regional placement and qualification spots for VALORANT Champions Shanghai will be decided.

Riot positioned the Stage 2 changes as part of a wider competitive plan. The publisher plans to move away from the fixed, league-based model introduced in 2023 and transition in 2027 to a Tournament-First ecosystem with Open Qualification across a 16-city global tour. Under the planned 2027 format, teams will qualify by performance rather than through franchise slots.
