THREAT Leaves Ninjas in Pyjamas as CS General Manager

Björn “THREAT” Pers has left Ninjas in Pyjamas as Counter-Strike general manager after three years, saying he did not want a role without performance-related responsibilities.

Björn “THREAT” Pers has left Ninjas in Pyjamas as general manager of the organization’s Counter-Strike division, confirming the departure on X. Pers wrote that he made the decision earlier this year and that the lack of performance-focused duties was the main factor.

Pers, 38, said he is undecided about his next role and wrote he is “still figuring out whether that’s within esports or beyond it.” He declined to give a timeline for future plans.

Pers first joined Ninjas in Pyjamas as head coach in 2016. He led the team from 2016 to 2018 and returned as head coach from 2020 to 2021. Those coaching periods included five tournament victories, among them IEM Oakland in 2016 and 2017.

At the end of 2021 Pers moved to behind-the-scenes duties. He left the organization briefly in 2022 and returned in 2023 to take the general manager role for the CS division.

Pers posted on X: “Earlier this year, I made the difficult decision to part ways with NIP. The main reason was that I didn’t want to be in a role where performance-related work wasn’t part of what I do. That’s something that matters a lot to me.” He also noted uncertainty about whether his next position will be inside esports or elsewhere.

Ninjas in Pyjamas has not issued further comment on Pers’s departure and has not announced plans to fill the general manager position.
