Vitality Drop to Fifth in Valve’s August VRS Update

Valve released the August update to the Global VRS, and Vitality moved down to fifth in the standings. It is the first time the team has been outside the top four since the August 2024 update. Valve’s monthly rankings will be used to allocate invites for multiple tournaments scheduled through November.

FISSURE Playground 3, running September 7–13, will award 15 global VRS spots to its main event. Logitech G Play Connect (September 17–23) will give 10 global spots to its main event, 8 global spots to the playoffs of a closed qualifier and 10 global spots to the group stage of a closed qualifier. Stake Ranked Episode 4 (October 1–4) will send six global spots to its main event and 10 spots to a closed qualifier.

ESL Pro League Season 24 (October 3–11) has 12 global VRS spots for the main event, 12 spots for a closed qualifier and four Asia-region spots for an Asia closed qualifier. The Thunderpick World Championship (October 12–19) will offer seven global spots to its main event and assign 14 Europe spots, one North America spot and one South America spot to its closed qualifier.

IEM Beijing (November 2–8) will grant 10 global spots to the main event and will allot one North America, one South America and one Asia spot directly to the main event. IEM Beijing will also use 12 global spots for a closed qualifier and four Asia spots for an Asia closed qualifier.

The updated Global VRS top 30 shows three European teams in positions one through three, an Americas team at fourth and Vitality at fifth. The list contains teams from Europe, the Americas and Asia with point totals that organizers will use when issuing invites.

Tournament organizers will apply the August rankings to finalize participant lists and qualifying brackets in the weeks ahead. Teams within the top tiers will receive direct and qualifier invites based on these standings.
