Parivision Expected Slump After PGL Astana Exit, Coach Says
Parivision left PGL Astana after a 1-2 loss to G2; coach Dzhami “Jame” Ali said the team anticipated a downturn and will regroup before CS Asia Championships and Cologne Major.
Parivision was eliminated from the PGL Astana 2026 group stage on May 12 after a 1-2 loss to G2. Coach Dzhami “Jame” Ali said the roster expected a downturn and plans to regroup ahead of the CS Asia Championships and Stage 3 of the Cologne Major.
The Russian side played four matches in Astana. On May 9 Parivision lost 0-2 to 9z, then beat Fisher College 2-0 on May 10. The team fell 0-2 to Aurora on May 11 before the 1-2 loss to G2 on May 12 that ended their tournament run. The defeat prevented Dastan “dastan” Akbayev from playing in front of a home crowd.
Ali cited a recent bootcamp and a break from competition as factors in the team’s inconsistent results. He described a 15-day preparation period in which players reviewed maps and rested, and said some took time for health checkups. Ali linked the first-game struggles and unusual match times to rust from time away and adapting to a tight schedule. “One can always come up with a lot of excuses, and one of those scenarios is that it’s been a while since we played, so the first game turned out to be messy and we stressed a bit,” he said.
The coach noted that the match against G2 showed clearer progress than some earlier games. He framed the outcomes in Astana as issues to address rather than final judgments on the lineup. Ali said the bootcamp resolved several recurring problems but also revealed new areas to improve.
On internal pressure and recent blunt comments from in-game leader Dastan — who warned teammates they could be cut after the Major — Ali placed those remarks in the context of a young roster in its first full season. He called for measured expectations and pointed to the extra effort required to stabilize at the top level. “It’s only the first season for our team. In all honesty, there should be nothing expected from us,” he said.
Between events, the team will focus on refining tactics and rebuilding confidence. Ali said the staff will work on the tasks identified in Astana and aim to regain consistent form before the CS Asia Championships and the Cologne Major. “We need to catch our wave at which we’ll get confidence in ourselves and the team, and that will help us go deep,” he added.
Parivision rose quickly earlier in the season with several notable wins. The lineup’s first full season at this level has combined strong results with stretches of inconsistency as the players adjust to higher competition and pressure.
