Metizport Retains MaiL09 After Alliance Fails to Meet Price

Metizport will keep Liam “MaiL09” Tügel under contract after Alliance did not meet the club’s asking price. Movistar KOI co‑owner Ibai Llanos said KOI will aim to return to CS and Valorant this year.

Metizport confirmed that Liam “MaiL09” Tügel remains under contract through next summer after transfer talks with Alliance failed to reach the club’s valuation.

Morten “zEVES” Vollan Christensen, Metizport’s sports director, said the club has contingency plans for either reintegrating MaiL09 into the roster or completing a permanent transfer to a buyer that meets their terms. A loan arrangement has been ruled out because it would lower the club’s chances of receiving a meaningful transfer fee. “Liam has a contract with us until the summer next year. So if he goes on loan for another season, there’d be a much smaller chance to get something economically beneficial,” he explained.

Vollan Christensen acknowledged that the player preferred to remain at Alliance but said negotiations did not produce an offer Metizport could accept. He repeated that, absent an acceptable bid, MaiL09 will stay with Metizport for the coming season.

Separately, Movistar KOI co‑owner Ibai Llanos told viewers on his stream that the organization will seek to return to competitive Counter‑Strike and Valorant. He gave a tentative timeline that could see KOI field teams during the summer or later in the year and described re-entering both titles as a priority for the group. “We will try to be in Counter‑Strike without a doubt. Hopefully, during this summer or afterwards, we will be in Counter‑Strike and Valorant. We will fight to make it happen, without a doubt,” Llanos said.

KOI has been without a Counter‑Strike roster since late 2024, when it parted ways with the lineup now competing under the Gentle Mates name. The organization indicated it will work to assemble new rosters for both games in the near term.

Alliance pursued a move for MaiL09 but, according to Metizport, did not meet the club’s asking price. Metizport’s public position is to consider a permanent transfer that reflects their valuation; the club has ruled out loans that would reduce the likelihood of a satisfactory financial outcome.
