London Colosseum: 25,000-seat arena for global esports
Consortium plans a 25,000-seat London Colosseum at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park to host international esports finals, basketball, boxing and mixed-use hotel, residences and community space.
A consortium led by Jericho Estates, Peacock Gym and Torch Sports unveiled plans for the London Colosseum, a 25,000-seat indoor arena at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. The developers say the venue is intended to be a primary site for international esports finals and will also accommodate professional basketball and world championship boxing.
The consortium said the arena would connect London’s gaming scene with audiences in the Middle and Far East and described the facility as designed to host major international tournament finals.
CHYBIK + KRISTOF ARCHITECTS designed the venue with an adaptive bowl configuration that can switch between a compact esports setup and a full 25,000-seat layout. The firm said the arrangement allows the floor and seating to be reconfigured for events such as a League of Legends World Championship or a Counter-Strike Major.
A multifunctional tower attached to the site will include a hotel, residences and community facilities to add hospitality and housing to the venue. Ondrej Chybik, lead architect, described the tower as a way to extend the site’s use beyond event days and to integrate the arena with local daily life.
Plans also call for a London Colosseum Academy linked to the main arena. The academy would contain two 3,000-seat venues and an international esports training campus intended to provide athlete development pathways, technical research and educational support for British esports competitors.
Solomon Curtis of Torch Sports said the project is planned to serve multiple sporting and cultural needs and that the mix of basketball, boxing and esports programming could support year-round commercial activity.
Backers said the complex is intended to help London compete with high-capacity esports hubs in the Middle East and Asia. The developers stated that the venue’s mixed-use elements and flexible layout are aimed at keeping the site active outside headline events.
The materials released with the plans do not include a construction timeline or final funding commitments.
