JTB Joins Japan Esports Association as Full Member
JTB became a full member of the Japan Esports Association on Oct. 1 and plans to link esports events with transport, accommodation and tourism in host regions.
JTB Corporation became a full member of the Japan Esports Association (JESU) on Oct. 1, 2026. The Japanese travel company plans to use its travel services to support esports events and regional tourism.
Planned services include transport and accommodation for players, staff and tournament officials. JTB also plans to combine tournament attendance with sightseeing and other activities in host regions.
The company intends to use its offices across Japan and its local relationships to encourage visits to participating areas and interaction with residents. It has not identified specific regions or tournaments.
JTB has not provided details on how players or fans would book the proposed services, their prices or which organisations would operate them with local event organisers.
The company has previously worked on sports viewing tours, hospitality services and travel programmes focused on local experiences. JTB plans to apply that experience to esports, although it has not announced specific programmes.
The announcement follows the Japan Sport Association, JESU and the Japan Sports Support Center’s redevelopment of the National Prefectural eSports Championship into a new competition called JAPAN GAMES ESPORTS. Organisers have described the format as a way to build regional pride, bring people together and encourage travel to participating areas.
JTB has not confirmed whether its plans are linked to JAPAN GAMES ESPORTS. Its JESU membership, effective Oct. 1, is the only concrete action confirmed by the company so far.
