HLTV opens closed beta for AI-powered Counter-Strike chatbot

HLTV has opened a closed beta for HLTV Brain, a chatbot that uses the site’s Counter-Strike database to answer questions. Access is limited, with more users to be added.

HLTV has launched a closed beta for HLTV Brain, an AI chatbot that answers questions about Counter-Strike using the site’s database of players, teams, matches, news, rankings and statistics.

The beta is planned to last two weeks. Access is currently limited to selected users, and HLTV plans to add more participants during the test. Other users can join a waitlist for a chance to take part.

HLTV Brain uses only HLTV data. It can combine information from the database to answer questions that are difficult to resolve through standard searches.

One query reconstructed the performance of duos in 2v2 to 2v5 situations at Big Events from 2025 through Sept. 29, 2026. Astralis players Love “phzy” Smidebrant and Victor “Staehr” Staehr ranked first among duos with at least 50 qualifying rounds. They won 23 of 60 rounds, producing a 38.33% win rate.

The reconstruction used survival times to identify when a third teammate had died and which opponents were still alive. Rounds in which another teammate died at the same recorded second were excluded. HLTV described the figures as a conservative estimate because the database records time in whole seconds and does not always show the exact sequence of events.

The chatbot can also retrieve roster information. A query about Artem “r1nkle” Moroz’s teammates at Ninjas in Pyjamas found 12 players whose primary roster spells overlapped with his time at the organization from April 2, 2024, to April 14, 2026. Including his subsequent benched period raises the number to 14, adding stavn and n0te. Coach Xizt was excluded because the query covered players.

Another query compared the highest-rated players at teams that appeared in HLTV’s top 10 during each calendar year. Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut had the largest gap between a team’s top-rated player and next-best teammate in 2021. ZywOo recorded a 1.29 rating against teammate misutaaa’s 1.02 across 163 maps, a difference of 0.27. The comparison covered 2016 through Sept. 22, 2026, and required at least 50 shared maps. The figures use different rating versions across some years and are not directly calibrated against one another.

HLTV Brain also compared event wins with individual ratings at Big Events in 2025 and 2026. Players with ratings below 0.80 won their event in one of 155 player-event appearances, or 0.6%. The rate was 3% for players rated from 0.80 to 0.99 and 23.4% for players rated at least 1.20.

The data included Finn “karrigan” Andersen’s performance at the 2026 IEM Cologne Major. Playing for the winning Falcons roster, he recorded a 0.71 Rating 3.0 across 20 maps, a minus-147 kill difference, 54.5 average damage per round and 0.42 kills per round. HLTV noted that Rating 3.0 is not calibrated directly against earlier rating versions.
