HLTV Adds 29 Style Metrics to Player Attributes
HLTV has updated its player attributes with 29 style-focused metrics, role-based comparisons, six statistics tables and a similar-player radar.
HLTV updated its player attributes on October 19 with 29 new metrics focused on playing style, role-based comparisons and separate statistics tables. The changes align the attributes with rating 3.0 and separate player intent from the results of an action.
The update affects the six style attributes: Entrying, Opening, Trading, Support, Sniping and Closing. The former Clutching category is now called Closing and covers late-round situations, including how often a player is alive after a bomb plant and how often they are the last survivor on their team.
HLTV now usually displays four metrics under each attribute. Those metrics contribute to the overall attribute score, and the full section fits on one screen on most devices. The site replaced outcome-based figures with intent-based measures where possible. Entrying uses tradeable deaths instead of traded deaths, while Opening uses opening attempts instead of opening kills.
The new metrics include Round Win Shares, Perfect KPR, Trade Denials, Net Kills, Net Damage, Trade Opportunities, Bait Kills percentage, First Duel Rank, First Duel Time, Weapon Attacks, Last Alive in Team, AWP Kills percentage, Opening Swing, Clutch Swing, AWP Duel Win percentage, AWP Swing and Flash Swing. Other additions cover grenade use, flash assists and damage received.
Default attribute scores are now calculated against averages for a player’s role. Most players are compared with riflers, while players with more than 0.20 AWP kills per round in the selected sample are compared with AWPers. Users can switch to comparisons with all players. Sniping uses a separate calculation because the average player rarely uses an AWP.
The role comparisons account for differences between AWPers and riflers. AWPers are alive for 63.3% of post-plants, compared with 54.6% for the average rifler. On the CT side, AWPers and riflers have an average Opening score of 50. On the T side, AWPers average 29 in Opening and 70 in Closing.
Six new statistics tables contain metrics removed from the condensed attribute displays. There is one table for each style attribute, along with separate pages for grenades and flashbangs. The tables include Trade Kill Success, one-on-one clutch win rate and Clutch Swing. Users can sort them by attribute score, filter results for AWPers, riflers and in-game leaders, and view metric explanations through tooltips.
At Big Events in 2026 against top-20 teams, Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut leads the Trading table for Trade Kill Success at 66.5%, followed by Maksim “kyousuke” Lukin at 65.8%. ZywOo also leads the AWP Swing table at plus 5.02%, ahead of Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov at plus 4.52%.
Player profiles now include a similar-player radar. It compares the six style attributes, excluding Firepower, on both sides and uses data from the previous six months for players from top-30 teams. David “Dawy” Davydenko is most similar to kyousuke at 95% and Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonowski at 91%. Daniel “syph0” Ageyev is compared most closely with René “TeSeS” Madsen at 94% and Ivan “zweih” Gogin at 92%.
HLTV describes the attributes as measures of style rather than rankings of ability in a specific area. A high Opening score indicates that a player is more aggressive than the relevant average; it does not measure success in opening duels.
