GTA Online’s VIN Message Fuels GTA 6 Tracking Rumors
A Reddit user found a “VIN removed” note while customizing a Coquette D10 in a Mansion Vehicle Workshop in GTA Online, a detail players linked to rumored GTA 6 police tracking.
A Reddit user reported finding a “VIN removed” message while customizing a Coquette D10 in a Mansion Vehicle Workshop in GTA Online. The message appeared under the Sunstrips customization category and referenced vehicle identification numbers (VINs), which are not part of GTA V or GTA Online.
The user reported the car was acquired from the Chop Shop about a week before the discovery. The VIN message appeared only on that specific Coquette D10; other cars, including identical models, did not display the line. The note also appeared only at one Mansion Vehicle Workshop, while standard garages and customization shops showed normal Sunstrips options.
Players connected the discovery to 2022 leaks that described expanded police investigation mechanics for the next Grand Theft Auto title. Those leaks described witnesses reporting crimes and passing vehicle descriptions to law enforcement so police could continue tracking a vehicle after a player fled. A VIN system would offer a unique identifier for tracking, and removing or altering a VIN could be presented as a way to avoid identification.
Other players warned the message could be placeholder text, part of a limited test, or leftover from a canceled feature. Rockstar Games has not provided a response.
Previous finds in GTA Online have included items and accessories that resemble material linked to the upcoming game, and players and data miners continue to examine game files for similar anomalies while waiting for official information.
