Gen.G forms legal team to fight online harassment - news.white.market

Gen.G formed a legal team to pursue online attacks, harassment and false information targeting players, staff, fans and their families, CEO Arnold Hur announced on X.

Gen.G has created a legal team to pursue online attacks, harassment and false information targeting players, staff, fans and their families, Arnold Hur, Gen.G’s chief executive, announced on X. The organization said it will use legal channels when conduct crosses legal lines and asked the community to report incidents to [email protected] or via the reporting portal at shield.geng.gg. Updates will be shared as individual cases move through the legal process.

In follow-up replies on X, Hur clarified that most online posts are not legally actionable and will not lead to prosecution unless they ‘really cross the line.’ Defamation claims involving individual players generally require coordination with the players’ representatives or agencies. The organization can act on attacks directed at the company itself, but cases focused on individual players are legally more complex and often require a joint approach with player representatives as the group builds a framework.

The announcement comes amid rising online toxicity in the Korean esports community, particularly around the League of Legends Champions Korea competition. Over the past year, multiple players, staff members and organizations reported harassment, doxxing, defamation and targeted personal attacks online.

In April 2026, esports organization T1 and agencies representing players including Faker, Gumayusi and Oner announced legal action against malicious posts and privacy violations. Gen.G did not point to a single triggering incident for its announcement, though the organization has faced months of heavy criticism online, including public scrutiny tied to Ruler’s tax case and criticism directed at midlaner Chovy.

Hur wrote he was shocked by how many attacks had ‘crossed the line’ and added that online hate has ‘skyrocketed’ in the past two years. He asked fans and victims to be patient while investigations and potential legal filings proceed, noting that building cases can take time.

Gen.G said it will review reports submitted through its official channels and determine which items meet the legal threshold for action. For claims that implicate individual players’ reputations, the organization plans to work with players’ agents or agencies so any defamation or privacy cases are coordinated. Gen.G will provide ongoing updates as specific legal matters develop and requested that fans continue to use the official reporting email and portal to flag content for review.
