G2 overtakes T1 in Riot Global Power Rankings

G2 Esports moved to fourth in Riot Games’ Global Power Rankings with 1,475 points after a 3-0 win over Movistar KOI in the LEC second-split grand final on September 20. The result confirmed G2 as Europe’s first seed for Worlds 2026 and placed T1 at fifth with 1,471 points.

Riot’s Global Power Rankings do not assign fixed points for specific results. The ranking model evaluates recent performance, match context, in-game execution, opponent strength and regional strength, and gives greater weight to the most recent matches. G2’s sweep of Movistar KOI was its final match before the September 20 update and factored into the ranking change. G2 closed the European season without dropping a game in the final series.

T1’s last match before the update was on September 12, when the team lost 3-1 to Hanwha Life Esports in the LCK lower-bracket final and finished third in the domestic season. That result was part of the data considered for the September 20 rankings.

G2 and T1 met at MSI 2026 on July 8, where G2 won 3-1 in a lower-bracket best-of-five, eliminating T1 from the tournament and marking G2’s first best-of-five victory over T1 since 2019. That head-to-head result is reflected in the recent ranking assessments.

Riot’s September 20 top 10 lists Hanwha Life Esports first with 1,540 points, Gen.G second with 1,519, Bilibili Gaming third with 1,513, G2 fourth with 1,475 and T1 fifth with 1,471. Lyon is sixth with 1,445. Dplus KIA and Anyone’s Legend are both at 1,409, kt Rolster is ninth with 1,381 and Karmine Corp is tenth with 1,375.

With the LEC title, G2 will attend Worlds 2026 as Europe’s first seed. T1 will appear as South Korea’s third seed after the LCK results. Neither team will compete in the Play-In: the Worlds format grants direct entry to the Swiss Stage for 15 teams, while four teams will contest the Play-In for the final spot. Worlds 2026 begins on October 15 in the United States, and the tournament format allows the possibility that G2 and T1 could be placed in the same group and face one another again.

Riot’s ranking update followed G2’s LEC final sweep and the teams’ earlier MSI meeting as recent results considered in the September 20 standings.
