FURIA coach Sidde: Letting go of mistakes after 2-0

After FURIA beat MOUZ 1-0 in IEM Cologne pool play to go 2-0, coach Sidde highlighted the team’s work on letting go of mistakes and pressure to regain form.

FURIA coach Sid “sidde” Macedo highlighted the importance of reducing pressure and moving on from mistakes after the Brazilian side beat MOUZ 1-0 in IEM Cologne pool play, leaving the team 2-0 and one win from the playoffs.

The series opened on Nuke, where FURIA executed a preplanned approach and closed the first half 8-4 on CT. Clutch rounds on the T side helped secure the map. On Inferno, FURIA’s T-side plan did not go as intended and the team lost the map. They finished the match on Overpass, where an early CT half and a strong AWP performance from molodoy carried them to victory.

Macedo referenced FURIA’s earlier exit in Astana against Falcons and called out lapses in seriousness at key moments. He recalled, “We didn’t play serious enough when it mattered,” and said that lesson shaped the conversations and practice that followed.

The coach traced recent inconsistency to the difficulty of sustaining the level the roster reached at the end of last year, when FURIA won four tournaments. Opponents have studied FURIA’s patterns and individual peaks from that period have been harder to reproduce. He pointed to stronger seasons from teams such as Vitality, NAVI, Spirit and PARIVISION as part of the competitive context the squad faces now.

Macedo singled out pressure and frustration as issues that appear in tight matches. He added, “Frustration comes a lot, at least for us, with the pressure. When we are pressured, we start getting frustrated because we feel like we should be winning games.” He said the team is practicing mental resets between rounds and maps, and used their ability to move on from Inferno as an example.

On entry player Yuri “yuurih” Santos, the coach linked the dip in form to broader problems on FURIA’s T side. Yuurih has previously performed best on attack and when the team hits a strong connection; poor T-side structure this year has limited those opportunities. Macedo noted that yuurih has maintained confidence and that restoring T-side structure and team cohesion should help his performance recover.

Macedo also said lower expectations at this Major, compared with the previous event in Budapest, have reduced self-imposed pressure. He described being viewed as a dark horse as helpful for mental preparation, allowing players to approach matches with less weight. FURIA will face tougher qualifying opponents, including Spirit, Falcons and Vitality; the coach said the immediate focus is on understanding the team’s current level and regaining the performance that produced success last year.
