Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Is Switch 2’s Largest Game
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth requires up to 102.5 GB on Nintendo Switch 2 (91.5 GB in Europe) and ships as a Game Key Card that requires a full digital download; it launches June 3.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is the largest Nintendo Switch 2 release by file size, listed at 102.5 GB on Japan’s My Nintendo Store and 91.5 GB on the European Nintendo site. The Switch 2 physical edition will be a Game Key Card that contains a download code; players must download the full game to play.
Square Enix store listings show the regional difference in required storage. The European figure may not include a potential day-one patch, which could raise the final download size. Both listings are larger than other recorded Switch 2 titles, including Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade at 90.4 GB, Split Fiction at 71 GB, and Cyberpunk 2077 Special Edition at 60 GB.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is scheduled to launch on June 3 for Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. Depending on region and any post-launch updates, owners should allow for more than 90 GB of free storage on their consoles or external cards.
The Game Key Card format stores only a code rather than full game data on the physical card. Earlier retail efforts for very large games sought to include full game files on cartridges; the Game Key Card requires storage on the console or an external card before players can start the game.
Additional reports mention a possible reveal of Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 at upcoming showcases and speculation about Tifa appearing in a fighting game roster. Square Enix has not confirmed these reports.
