Enkay J: FaZe’s BLAST Rivals win boosts morale

FaZe coach Niclas ‘enkay J’ Krumhorn said the BLAST Rivals playoff victory over FURIA, decided on Nuke after a 2v4 retake, should lift the team’s morale after recent struggles.

FaZe advanced in the BLAST Rivals playoffs with a win over FURIA that finished on Nuke after a late 2v4 retake by David ‘frozen’ Čerňanský and Helvijs ‘broky’ Saukants. The retake followed an unexpected frag on a planned save that briefly shifted the odds.

FaZe lost the opening map, Dust2, and made costly errors on Mirage that damaged their CT-side economy. The team recovered on Nuke, where a strong Terrorist half and in-game calls from Russel ‘Twistzz’ Van Dulken established control and set up the decider.

Coach Niclas ‘enkay J’ Krumhorn described the result as a boost to team mood and momentum, adding, “Hopefully, it lifts everybody up.” He said the squad had been in a “pretty decent mood” the week before the match and that the win might “get the ball rolling.”

Enkay J said his integration into FaZe was smooth. He held individual calls with players while they were on break, worked closely with staff, and coordinated with Twistzz on how the team should operate in-game. He noted ongoing discussions with upper management about long-term leadership and fit, and that those talks would continue in the background while the team focuses on immediate matches.

FaZe signed Ryan ‘Neityu’ Aubry as a stand-in for the event. Enkay J cited role fit and Neityu’s positive influence off-server as reasons for the pick, noting prior work together at ENCE. He said the decision involved players and management, with general manager Eddie Han among those who suggested Neityu’s name.

Enkay J praised Twistzz’s performance on Nuke, saying the IGL was “in the zone,” which helped the team trust and execute his calls. He pointed to continued issues on Mirage and CT-side economy as areas that require work and said he keeps regular contact with the GM to report on practice and team atmosphere.

The victory moves FaZe forward in the BLAST Rivals playoffs and follows a period of roster and organizational turbulence. Enkay J said he was content with the current situation and optimistic about how the pieces are fitting together, while confirming that conversations with management will determine how leadership and roles evolve going forward.
