electroNic: “My ambitions were too high” at Virtus.pro

Denis “electroNic” Sharipov acknowledged that high expectations affected how he treated young Virtus.pro teammates and said he would act differently today.

Denis “electroNic” Sharipov reflected on his time at Virtus.pro and an incident involving Kaisar “ICY” Faiznurov during a PGL Bucharest match in 2025. He said his high expectations affected how he communicated with younger players and that he would handle such situations differently now.

ElectroNic discussed the period while appearing at the 1win Private Club Season 2 event on a Russian-language broadcast. He is currently on the bench of BC.Game and is considering his next team.

“I demanded too much, probably,” electroNic said when discussing his interaction with ICY. “A player can’t just jump above his head.”

The 27-year-old explained that less experienced players may need more time to process decisions. He added that teammates should still be held to high standards, but criticism should be delivered with less emotion and in a more measured way.

“Every person is different,” he said. “This was a good experience for me. It’s a lesson that you need to be a bit more restrained.”

ElectroNic linked the incident to his time at Virtus.pro, where he worked with two young players and felt responsible for teaching them about the game. He believes his ambitions were too high at the time.

“You can’t behave like that at all, because it can affect the player in the moment, and then it can even affect your relationship outside the game,” he said. “If I’d had back then the experience I have now, I definitely wouldn’t have behaved that way.”

He also discussed reuniting with Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev at BC.Game. In his view, the Ukrainian player has improved his mental approach and may be less affected by teammates’ mistakes.

“I think he’s definitely worked on himself, on his mental side,” electroNic said. “It seems to me that now he’s become even more dangerous in terms of gameplay than he was before. Some team mistakes might not affect him at all now the way they affected him before.”

ElectroNic declined to discuss BC.Game’s decision to replace him with Australian player Ashley “asap” Figueiredo. The roster change enabled the organization to switch to the Asian region and qualify for the Major. ElectroNic directed questions about the decision to the team.

He plans to continue playing and expects to assess his options after the Major, when he believes more teams may have openings. He confirmed that he has spoken with teams but did not provide details.

ElectroNic prefers to join a Russian-speaking roster but remains open to an international team. His previous experience in an international lineup, he explained, would help him adapt to an English-speaking environment.

He is also open to continuing as a player or taking a leadership role. ElectroNic has played almost every position during his career, apart from the AWP role at the highest level, and believes he can adapt to roles that do not produce the highest individual statistics.

He may also consider joining a mix team that pays its own event fees and travel costs. While waiting for his next offer, he occasionally works as an analyst and continues to follow Counter-Strike.
