Dataminers Find M14 in Counter-Strike 2 Rush Hour Files

Dataminers uncovered references to a weapon identified as the M14 in Counter-Strike 2 files added with the Rush Hour update. The discovery was posted by insiders aqua and Avi “Thour” Thour on September 23. Entries appear in a weapons.vdata file and include paths that point to models and animations for the asset.

The weapons.vdata entries list a $4,100 price, 115 base damage, a four-times headshot multiplier, a $100 kill reward, and .338 ammunition. The files reference a scope system, per-round reloading behavior, and capacity values that suggest five rounds in the magazine with five in reserve. File paths in the data point to model and animation assets for the M14.

The M14 cannot be equipped or used on public servers and it was not mentioned in Valve’s official patch notes for the Rush Hour update. Because the entries are in development files, the numbers and mechanics could be placeholder values or test configurations. Valve has not provided a comment on the datamines or the weapon.

An initial reading shared by aqua interpreted parameters as the weapon firing a single shot before each reload with five additional rounds in reserve. Later examinations of the full parameter set produced a different interpretation of reload and firing behavior.

The last weapon additions by Valve were the MP5-SD in August 2018 and the R8 Revolver in December 2015. Valve has not specified whether the referenced M14 entries are intended for traditional competitive modes, new modes, or internal testing branches.

For now, the only concrete evidence of the M14 is the entries found in the Rush Hour update files and the linked model and animation paths. The weapon will remain unconfirmed until Valve issues an official announcement or a playable build includes the rifle.
