Caedrel Declines UK Mid-Lane Offer for Esports Nations Cup

Marc “Caedrel” Lamont declined a UK offer to play mid lane at the 2026 Esports Nations Cup, saying he would not commit to preparations such as bootcamps.

Marc “Caedrel” Lamont declined an approach to play mid lane for the United Kingdom at the Esports Nations Cup. UK national team manager Jeff Simpkins confirmed the offer and the refusal, commenting, “We offered Caedrel mid lane but he declined.”

The Esports Nations Cup returns in 2026 with a multi-title format featuring national squads across Europe. The UK team is still finalizing its roster; a coach announcement was scheduled for April 23 and the full lineup had not been locked in at the time of the confirmation.

Caedrel, 29, is a former professional League of Legends player now active as a broadcaster and streamer. He is a well-known figure in the European scene and has on-air experience with LEC coverage. Clips from his streams indicated he did not want to commit to extended bootcamps and an intensive practice schedule, requirements linked to national-team preparation.

The UK’s mid-lane vacancy remains an open priority in the selection process. National-team formats limit the available player pool and offer little time to build in-game chemistry before qualifiers, making late changes at the mid position difficult to manage.

Organizers and UK team staff plan to name a coach and continue evaluating mid-lane candidates ahead of ENC qualifying matches. Remaining roster announcements will follow the coaching appointment. Until those selections are published, the UK roster for the Esports Nations Cup is not final.
