Björn “THREAT” Pers leaves Ninjas in Pyjamas

Björn “THREAT” Pers has left Ninjas in Pyjamas, saying he did not want a role without performance-related duties; he is weighing whether to remain in esports or pursue other work.

Björn “THREAT” Pers, 38, has parted ways with Ninjas in Pyjamas, the Swedish esports organization. He announced the departure earlier this year and cited the absence of hands-on performance responsibilities as the main reason.

Pers most recently served as general manager at Ninjas in Pyjamas. He first joined the organization in 2016 as head coach and returned on two further occasions, holding multiple roles across three separate spells. In his recent role he oversaw team operations and competitive strategy.

“Earlier this year, I made the difficult decision to part ways with NIP,” Pers wrote on X. “The main reason was that I didn’t want to be in a role where performance-related work wasn’t part of what I do. That’s something that matters a lot to me. As for what’s next, I’m still figuring that out, whether that’s within esports or beyond it.”

The organization did not provide an immediate comment. Pers did not specify a timeline for his next steps or name any potential employers.

Pers has indicated he prefers positions with direct involvement in team performance, suggesting any future role would likely include on-the-ground coaching or competitive oversight.
