Activision confirms Modern Warfare 4 for Oct. 23, 2026

Activision released the first full trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 and set the release date for Oct. 23, 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2.

Activision released the first full trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 and confirmed the game will launch on Oct. 23, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2. The developer Infinity Ward is listed as the studio behind the title.

Infinity Ward described the campaign as centered on a large-scale invasion of South Korea that escalates into broader international conflict. The trailer and accompanying notes show missions primarily on the Korean Peninsula, with additional operations depicted in New York, Paris and Mumbai.

The studio said the game aims for a more grounded tone, emphasizing political tension, covert operations and conventional warfare. Footage in the trailer includes trench fighting, close-quarters engagements, high-speed vehicle pursuits and night raids carried out by SAS operators.

A notable narrative change involves Captain Price. Rather than operating with Task Force 141, Price is shown forming a rogue alliance and conducting missions outside formal military channels as the crisis spreads across multiple theaters.

The Oct. 23, 2026 release date applies across current-generation consoles and PC, and the announcement lists Nintendo’s forthcoming Switch 2. Activision has not provided details on multiplayer modes, post-launch support, edition types or pre-order incentives in the initial announcement. The trailer serves as the first full look at the campaign’s story and visuals.

Modern Warfare 4 continues the Modern Warfare subseries developed by Infinity Ward. Additional details on gameplay systems, multiplayer features and story developments are expected in the months before the October release.
