yuurih: FURIA would love to beat Falcons in the final

FURIA reached the Thunderpick World Championship final with a 2-0 victory over Aurora. The Brazilian team will face the winner of the semifinal between BETBOOM and Falcons.

Yuri “yuurih” Santos hopes Falcons advance. FURIA has not played against them for some time, and he wants the team to test itself against one of the tournament’s strongest opponents.

“It feels good,” yuurih said after the series. “It’s been a while since we made it to a final, besides the Major. It’s also nice to beat some teams like Legacy and now Aurora, too, since we lost to them last time.”

FURIA had previously faced Aurora in the Pro League, winning Dust2 before losing Mirage and Nuke. The team also had to recover during the second map of the semifinal after Aurora closed the gap on Inferno.

Yuurih believed FURIA could have built a larger lead. “We should have been up 11-4 with a good economy, so I think that round brought them back a bit,” he said. “We also lost another gun round on A, so it was getting tough, but then we won the force-buy at 10-10. That brought us back.”

At 10-10, FURIA changed its plan during the round after a call from Mareks “YEKINDAR” Gaļinskis. The team initially prepared to attack the A site before moving to B. Yuurih created space for Danil “molodoy” Golubenko, while Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo provided a flash.

FURIA has faced a busy tournament schedule this season, leaving the roster with only a few days between events. Yuurih described the title as the reward the team wants after that workload.

“There’s nothing better than winning a tournament, right?” he said. “We’ve been playing in several tournaments, with only a few days to rest. The best reward, for sure, is being the champion.”

FURIA is the defending Thunderpick World Championship champion. Another title would come before FalleN’s planned retirement at the end of the year. Yuurih expects the result to feel especially satisfying if Falcons are the opponent.

“I think we would be very happy, especially if it’s against Falcons,” he said. “We’re trying to beat the best teams, you know? Falcons, Spirit, MOUZ. If we win a final against them, it would be very good.”
