YEKINDAR: FURIA Rediscovers Identity, One Win From Astana
FURIA regained form after a last-place BLAST Rivals finish, beating Monte and HEROIC and moving one win away from sending Danil “molodoy” Golubenko to PGL Astana.
Mareks “YEKINDAR” Gaļinskis said FURIA found a clearer approach after a last-place exit at BLAST Rivals Fort Worth. Back-to-back wins over Monte and HEROIC leave the team one victory from securing Danil molodoy Golubenko a spot in the PGL Astana arena.
Gaļinskis described a turnaround that began immediately after the Rivals elimination, when practice sessions revealed small but important fixes. “Honestly, I don’t know what happened, but after BLAST Rivals it clicked,” he said, adding that early practices after the loss felt dominant. He called the changes modest in scale but effective for restoring confidence.
The team narrowed its focus on roles and decision-making. Gaļinskis explained FURIA had experimented with different tactics and at times tried to mirror how other teams played, which led to unclear roles. Recent adjustments emphasized players making decisions in their own areas and improving individual shooting consistency.
Gaļinskis highlighted molodoy’s shift in approach. After inconsistent showings in Rio and at Rivals, the young rifler moved away from attempting broad responsibilities and refocused on his strongest traits within the team system. Gaļinskis said the balance between individual play and teamwork has improved.
FalleN’s announcement that he plans to retire at the end of the year prompted internal planning. Gaļinskis said he is using the remaining months to learn from João “FalleN” Vasconcellos and gather experience. He outlined possible outcomes for the in-game leader role, including FalleN reversing his decision, signing an external leader, or adjusting roles within the roster, and noted timelines and market availability will shape the choice.
On the broader field, Gaļinskis declined to treat any absence as a simple path to victory. He pointed to opponents such as Falcons and Spirit and warned against focusing on a single matchup. FURIA’s immediate priority remains the next qualifying match and maintaining the tactical and individual improvements that produced the recent wins.
