Xbox Pushes Fable to February 2027 for Dedicated Launch

Xbox confirmed Fable’s release has moved from 2026 to February 2027 so the studio can “have the dedicated moment it deserves.” A new look is planned for the June 2027 Xbox Showcase.

Xbox confirmed that Fable will now launch in February 2027, delaying the previously targeted 2026 window so the game can “have the dedicated moment it deserves.” The reboot had been expected in autumn 2026, but Microsoft announced the new launch month this week.

In a post on X, Xbox said the later date gives Fable room for a standalone launch and noted players can expect a new look at the game during an Xbox Showcase in June 2027. The company provided a launch month rather than a specific day in February.

Earlier reports and online chatter suggested an internal delay. Rumors had claimed the release was being pushed to avoid launching too close to Grand Theft Auto VI; developers previously dismissed that and had maintained an autumn 2026 target. The company’s latest post confirms the schedule has shifted.

Interest in an update rose after Fable briefly appeared on a Korean ratings board, which increased expectations for public news. Developers have released only limited details about gameplay and story as the studio refines the reboot.

Microsoft also outlined a busy release calendar that includes several upcoming first-party and partner titles. The list named Halo: Campaign Evolved, Gears of War: E-Day, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, Control Resonant, Star Wars: Galactic Racer and Grand Theft Auto VI among forthcoming releases.

The company will host an Xbox Games Showcase on June 7, 2026, alongside a dedicated Gears of War: E-Day presentation. Xbox indicated it will present more footage of Fable at the June 2027 showcase.

Additional development details reported around the project include assistance from Blizzard’s cinematics team. A version for Nintendo’s next console has reportedly been considered, though neither Microsoft nor Nintendo has confirmed such a release.

Fable is a reboot of the long-dormant fantasy series and has been positioned as a major new title for Xbox’s lineup. The delay shifts its expected spotlight into early 2027 rather than late 2026.
