VALORANT Patch 13.08: Corrode Changes Explained

VALORANT Patch 13.08 will shorten Defender routes on Corrode, rework Mid and adjust the A Site plant zone when it begins rolling out on Oct. 13.

Riot Games has announced several changes to Corrode in VALORANT Patch 13.08. The update is designed to shorten Defender rotations, give attackers more options in Mid and reduce the strength of an A Link post-plant setup. The changes follow more than a year of match reviews and gameplay data.

Paths from Defender Spawn to the back of A Site and B Site will be shortened. Riot identified the previous routes as a reason defenders struggled to return to a site after attackers took control. The revised routes will reduce travel time during rotations and retakes.

Corrode’s Mid area will receive several layout changes. The Mid half wall will become metal and move one meter outward, reducing the effect of bullets fired through it. Boxes at the back of Lower Mid will move closer to B, and a new jump-up spot will be added nearby.

The Lower Mid wall will be raised so players cannot stand on the repositioned boxes and peek over it. The updated half wall will also allow attackers to move toward A Link without being seen from Top Mid, creating another route through the area.

Riot is changing the A Site plant zone to reduce the effectiveness of post-plant positions played from A Link. The patch notes do not provide the revised zone’s exact dimensions or boundaries.

Corrode and Bind will enter the Competitive and Deathmatch map pools with Patch 13.08. Ascent and Split will leave both queues.

The update will introduce Map Rating for Competitive and Premier. Each map will receive a score from 0 to 500 and a grade from C to S based on overall win rate, attacking and defending win rates, and Performance Score. Recent matches will carry more weight than older ones. Players can view the feature during Agent Select, on the End of Game screen and on the Career page. Ratings and related statistics will be private, and matches played before Patch 13.08 will not count.

Patch 13.08 will also update the Queue and Mode Select interfaces, add Career page navigation and change Killjoy’s Alarmbot destruction effects and sound when moving doors destroy it. Several bugs involving Competitive accolades, footstep audio, death sounds, weapon bounce effects and Warden’s scope reticle will be fixed.

Riot expects the update to begin rolling out on Oct. 13, 2026. Scheduled maintenance begins at 9 a.m. ET in the Americas, 5 a.m. SGT on Oct. 14 in Asia-Pacific and 5 a.m. CEST on Oct. 14 in Europe. These are maintenance start times, and Riot has not confirmed when the patch will become available in each region.
