Torzsi: MOUZ ended Spirit’s 32-match Swiss run
Ádám “torzsi” Torzsás called StarSeries a wake-up call after MOUZ regrouped to beat Spirit on Dust2 and Mirage and reach the Pro League playoffs.
MOUZ advanced to the Pro League playoffs at the Katowice Swiss stage after defeating Spirit on Dust2 and Mirage, ending Spirit’s 32-match unbeaten run in Swiss-format matches. The wins secured MOUZ’s spot in the playoff bracket and closed a series of meetings between the two teams this season.
Torzsás described the StarSeries result as a wake-up call following a subpar performance at StarLadder. The team regrouped in Katowice with focused preparation and adjusted tactics ahead of the Swiss matches.
On Dust2, MOUZ tightened its defense on B, an area the lineup had struggled with previously. Lotan “Spinx” Giladi and new signing Oldřich “PR” Nový held B site control, and Torzsás noted the pair finally settled into defined roles. He pointed to coaches and in-game leaders, including sycrone and xertioN, for providing CT-round plans that disrupted Spirit’s usual approach.
Mirage featured a scrappy first half, with rounds trading hands. MOUZ’s T-side ideas created openings that the team converted in the second half. Torzsás acknowledged missed opportunities on some crucial shots late in the match that might have closed rounds sooner, while also saying the overall performance increased confidence ahead of the Major.
MOUZ also targeted Spirit’s star, Danil “donk” Kryshkovets, with specific grenades and setups. Torzsás described repeated plays where donk crossed with a first-door smoke and was hit by HE grenades, limiting his impact. He added that he personally recorded multiple entry kills on Dust2’s CT side and that set pieces were prepared and executed when needed.
The two teams have met several times this season, including two finals, and Torzsás pointed out that map results between them are close. With the Katowice result, he noted the current tally with this MOUZ lineup stands at six wins to four in head-to-head maps.
MOUZ listed short-term goals as reaching the semi-finals in the Pro League and competing for the title. The organization highlighted the run-up to the Major as a period that affects rankings, roster momentum and commercial items such as stickers, and said the team will approach events one match at a time.
