Ropz: Vitality treated IEM Atlanta as tune-up
Ropz said Vitality treated IEM Atlanta as a tune-up and recovered from a 2–1 loss to BetBoom to reach the Group A playoffs with wins over FaZe and B8.
Team Vitality entered IEM Atlanta (May 11–13, 2026) as favorites and finished Group A by beating BC.Game 2–0, dropping a 2–1 match to BetBoom on May 12, then advancing through the lower bracket with 2–0 wins over FaZe and B8 to claim the final playoff spot in the group. The win over B8 secured their place in the quarterfinals.
Robin “ropz” Kool said the squad treated Atlanta as a tune-up after a week off following their BLAST Rivals 2026 Season 1 victory. He attributed early problems to the break, listing rust in aim, positioning, tactical ideas and occasional communication lapses, and added that fatigue from the third week in the U.S. affected energy levels.
Ropz credited stronger individual performances and improved calling for the team’s recovery. He highlighted apEX’s T-side reads as a positive factor and cited notable games from flameZ and ZywOo in the wins over FaZe and B8.
On the question of complacency, Ropz rejected the idea. “Complacency is definitely not an issue for us,” he said, noting the team’s support staff and internal checks that monitor form and readiness. He also said that, despite treating Atlanta as a lower-priority event, Vitality aimed not to leave with regrets.
Vitality will meet the loser of NAVI versus Legacy in the quarterfinals; ropz said he had no preference and mentioned both matchups would be acceptable. The team plans a short rest after Atlanta, followed by a bootcamp to prepare for the IEM Cologne Major. Ropz added the break would be used to recharge before returning to full practice, quipping there would be “not another Yosemite trip.”
