Project Madras trailer shows undercover agent in India

Royston Cinemo unveiled a trailer for Project Madras at the Insider Gaming Showcase. The teaser follows a state agent living a double life while operating within an open-world depiction of a large Indian city.

The gameplay shown centers on infiltration of a criminal network. Players take contracts, side jobs and missions to build reputation and influence across different districts, using contacts and assignments to advance their cover and standing.

Developers presented the game as a blend of familiar open-world crime mechanics with region-specific architecture, dialogue and social dynamics. They described Project Madras as “a celebration of Indian culture, language, emotions, and spirit,” and said the team focused on atmosphere and local detail.

The teaser emphasized role-play and reputation systems over continuous action. Players will use both criminal and official channels to complete objectives, and choices in undercover operations will change access and influence in parts of the city.

Project Madras places India at the center of its setting, a location not often used in mainstream open-world crime titles. The development team highlighted use of local languages and emotional nuance in storytelling and worldbuilding.

No platforms, release date or distribution plans were announced in connection with the trailer. Recent industry reports have linked price cuts for Xbox Game Pass to renewed subscriber growth for Microsoft’s service, a factor developers and publishers consider when planning release and distribution strategies.
