NetEase has permanently banned nearly 500 accounts in Marvel Rivals after an internal investigation found users ran or distributed prohibited third-party software and altered the official game client. The action was carried out as a large-scale enforcement wave across the game’s player base.
The developer published a list of the offending accounts with partially censored IDs and usernames and included each player’s in-game rank alongside the list.
NetEase added the detected cheats and their specific modifications to the game’s monitoring systems. “The detected cheats and their modifications have now been added to the game’s monitoring systems, meaning any future attempts to use them will result in immediate automatic bans,” the company wrote.
For repeated violations, attempts to evade prior punishments or organized distribution of cheating tools, NetEase said it will consider IP-level and hardware ID bans to prevent offenders from returning on new accounts. The company did not provide a breakdown of how many accounts will face hardware or IP bans versus account-only removals.
NetEase did not disclose the total number of accounts initially investigated or the exact methods used to detect client modifications.
