MOUZ Beats Aurora; jL Praises xelex, xertioN in Astana

MOUZ beat Aurora 2-0 in the PGL Astana playoffs to reach the semifinals. Rifler Justinas ‘jL’ Lekavicius said rookie Adrian ‘xelex’ Vincze showed no stage pressure and praised Dorian ‘xertioN’ Berman.

MOUZ defeated Aurora 2-0 in the PGL Astana playoff round at the arena in Astana to advance to the tournament semifinals. The result repeated their group-stage win and came in front of a live crowd.

The match included a late run on Dust2, where MOUZ closed eight straight rounds to reverse momentum. jL acknowledged he struggled on Dust2’s CT side early in the match but credited the team’s T-side coordination and improved information flow for turning the map around. He singled out captain Dorian ‘xertioN’ Berman for strong play throughout the series.

Onstage comms were louder and more chaotic than in the group stage, jL said, describing multiple players talking during freeze time. He laughed as he recalled sometimes typing in team chat ‘I dropped a smoke’ to avoid overloading voice comms. He added that he prefers teammates to over-communicate rather than under-communicate.

Rookie Adrian ‘xelex’ Vincze made his first arena appearance alongside veteran teammates. jL reported no drop in performance from xelex compared with earlier rounds, noting the player remained composed and continued to seek kills. He pointed to a Nuke T-side play where xelex pushed behind Red and secured an AWP kill as an example of aggressive, confident play.

jL described xertioN’s series as repeatedly impressive and said the in-game leader has been able to think about macro strategy while still contributing frags. jL characterized xertioN’s play as a consistent source of impact for MOUZ.

Aurora captain Caner ‘soulfly’ Kesici had suggested his team played a lower-level game in the earlier meeting with MOUZ. jL said he did not think Aurora deliberately underperformed, and he noted that MOUZ also missed opportunities in the group stage. During the rematch jL checked the scoreboard and observed soulfly had a difficult match; he described it as an example of how individual players can have off games.

MOUZ will face the winner of the G2 vs. Spirit quarterfinal. From a preparation standpoint, jL said he would prefer to play G2 because MOUZ has more clarity on their style, but he also expressed interest in meeting Spirit, whose individual firepower and unconventional buys present different challenges.

MOUZ’s win moves the team into the semifinals at PGL Astana, with their next opponent to be decided by the G2-Spirit result.
