Molodoy to Return to Aggressive AWPing for FURIA
FURIA AWPer Danil “molodoy” Golubenko will resume high-risk, solo AWPing after trying adjustments following the team’s tournament in China.
Danil “molodoy” Golubenko, FURIA’s AWPer, announced he will return to the aggressive AWPing that marked his breakout season, reversing adjustments he tried after the team’s event in China.
He plans to increase solo, high-risk plays and repeeks that featured in FURIA’s trophy run last winter.
Molodoy’s numbers have declined from last season. He recorded a 1.20 rating against top-five teams last year. In 2026 so far he has a 0.99 overall rating and a 1.06 rating in playoff matches. He said the team has had trouble maintaining consistency against the strongest opponents.
“I wanted to try to fix my game, but already, after China, I didn’t want to fix it anymore,” molodoy said. “For me, it’s better to play sometimes by yourself. I need to play more aggressive because it’s my style. For me, it works, and I don’t need to stop this.” He confirmed the repeeks are back in his playbook.
Molodoy described a physical issue that affected his play early in the season. He experienced elevated intraocular pressure that made focusing on the screen painful. “My eye is better,” he said, adding that medication has eased the problem and improved his ability to concentrate.
The team took a one-week break at home, which molodoy called restful but not enough to fully reset. With several events remaining before the Major, he said FURIA will use those tournaments to try to regain form and believes the squad must keep aiming for wins.
Molodoy addressed the impending retirement of in-game leader Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo. He described losing a close teammate as difficult but said the group is working to produce strong results in FalleN’s remaining time with the roster. “To lose FalleN is kind of hard for me, but I understand this is life,” he added.
As a rookie, molodoy helped FURIA to back-to-back trophies with a flashy, ultra-aggressive AWP style and finished sixth on last year’s Top 20 ranking. He said the team is not collapsing under pressure and that slumps are part of competition.
Molodoy intends to resume the aggressive AWPing that brought early success while managing his eye condition and the emotional impact of lineup uncertainty as FURIA prepares for the run of events leading to the Major.
