South Korea beat Chinese Taipei 3-0 on Oct. 2 in Aichi–Nagoya to win the League of Legends gold medal at the 2026 Asian Games. The team closed the Grand Final without dropping a map.
The roster included Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, Choi “Zeus” Woo-je and Ryu “Keria” Min-seok, who each won their second Asian Games gold. Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu, Kim “Zeka” Geon-woo and Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong won their first gold medals at the event.
South Korea took early leads in each game and maintained control through objective fights. The lineup combined several players with World Championship experience.
Organizers required all competitors to switch to wired mice for the remainder of the tournament because of concerns about wireless signals at the venue. Some players reported discomfort after the change, and play continued under the new rule.
The result contributed to South Korea’s esports medal count at the Aichi–Nagoya Games: five medals across nine esports events, comprising two gold, one silver and two bronze.
Under South Korean rules, male athletes who win gold at major international competitions such as the Asian Games can receive Art and Sports Personnel status instead of regular active-duty military service. Active-duty service typically lasts between 18 and 21 months depending on the branch.
With the 2026 victory, Canyon, Zeka and Gumayusi become eligible for that status and will not be required to complete standard active-duty service. Other South Korean players who previously received military exemptions include Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon, Park “Ruler” Jae-hyuk, Park “Teddy” Jin-seong, Gwak “Bdd” Bo-seong, Moon “Cuzz” Woo-chan and Seo “Kanavi” Jin-hyeok.
