Five VRS storylines ahead of Singapore Major invites

Invites for the Singapore Major are due in about a month and teams are competing in a mix of tier-one events and smaller international LANs for VRS points. Upcoming tier-one events include ESL Pro League Season 24 and PGL Bucharest Masters. Several smaller events on the calendar offer additional opportunities to earn points before the cutoff.

Natus Vincere sit 19th in the European VRS ranking. The organization is the only team to have attended every Counter-Strike Major to date. Since the summer break, the roster has recorded three wins and reached the round of 16 at the Esports World Cup as its most notable result. Natus Vincere are entered in PGL Bucharest Masters and ESL Pro League Season 24. Playoff results at those events will add VRS points to their total.

FaZe Clan are 11th in the European VRS and currently inside the provisional cutoff. They have no tier-one events scheduled before invites are issued and are entered in three smaller tournaments: Stake Ranked Episode 4, Roman Imperium Cup IX and DraculaN Season 7. The team has recently recorded a last-place finish at a mid-tier event and will rely on results at the scheduled events to maintain their current position. The roster includes players such as frozen and Twistzz, and Jason ‘JBOEN’ Boe Nielsen has been taking AWPing duties in recent months.

In Asia, BC.Game and WW adjusted rosters toward Asian-majority lineups. BC.Game signed Tyson ‘asap’ Paterson and is entered in events including ROG JOURNEY, Stake Pulse Beat 3 and DraculaN Season 7. WW compete with 5star and FlyQuest for a provisional spot in the region and suffered a last-place exit at a recent LAN. The MongolZ lost long-term players Azbayar ‘Senzu’ Munkhbold and Ayush ‘mzinho’ Batbold and added Zolbayar ‘tikuak’ Chimedtseren and Dugarsuren ‘DarkMeister’ Ireedui, who stayed on the roster for about three months. As a result, The MongolZ are no longer the undisputed top seed in Asia, and TYLOO could move ahead in the regional order. In Oceania, THUNDER dOWNUNDER are effectively out of contention and FlyQuest depend on additional events to add points.

In the Americas, paiN promoted academy players Rickson ‘Rkzinho’ Ribeiro Dias and Lucas ‘Tatu’ Santana after removing Guilherme ‘piriajr’ Barbosa and Vinicius ‘vsm’ Moreira. The lineup finished second at a domestic event, FERJEE In House Season 2, but that result left the team short of an automatic Major berth. There are no further tournaments listed publicly for paiN before invites are distributed.

Over the next month, playoff appearances at tier-one events will provide the largest single gains in VRS points, while results at smaller LANs can affect regional cutoffs. VRS points determine direct Stage invites and regional seeding for the Major, so event schedules and each team’s ability to reach playoffs will affect who receives invites when announcements are made.

Standings change as events conclude and rosters settle. Teams with few remaining events have limited opportunities to add points before invites are issued.
