Modern Warfare 4 Playtested on PS4, Hints at Last-Gen Release
Leaker Alaix posted that a Modern Warfare 4 build is being playtested on PlayStation 4, a development that suggests possible support for last-generation consoles.
Alaix posted on X that a build of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is undergoing playtesting on PlayStation 4 hardware. The post did not include a release date or specify whether the build is a retail candidate or an internal compatibility test.
The PlayStation 4 launched in 2013 and will turn 13 years old this November.
Another insider, TheGhostOfHope, had earlier posted that Modern Warfare 4 would not release on PS4 or Xbox One. TheGhostOfHope later wrote on X: “Never said it was releasing there tho, just heard that and thought it was funny af.”
Activision and the development teams working on Call of Duty have not issued a statement confirming platform plans or verifying the playtest report.
Alaix has previously shared datamines and leak details, including in-game skins and update information, that were later found to be accurate. That history has prompted attention to the PS4 playtest claim among fans and developers.
Playtesting can be used for performance assessment, bug detection and compatibility checks; it does not alone confirm a retail release for a given platform.
Modern Warfare 4’s official platform list, features and release date remain unannounced. Until Activision or the studio provides formal information, platform availability is unconfirmed.
