Marvel’s Brand New Day Returns Spider-Man to Street Level
Marvel Studios says Brand New Day will refocus Spider-Man on neighborhood stories as Peter Parker rebuilds his life after No Way Home without Stark tech or Avengers support.
Marvel Studios says Brand New Day will return Spider-Man to street-level storytelling, focusing on Peter Parker as he rebuilds his life after the events of No Way Home without Stark technology or Avengers support.
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said the film follows Parker after a spell by Doctor Strange removed him from the memories of his friends and allies, leaving him alone and forced to start over. The character will live in a small apartment and rely on his own skills rather than high-tech suits or billionaire mentors.
Feige described Parker as ‘living in a rather sad, small apartment, listening to the police scanner and going out and using his great power responsibly.’
Marvel has said the story will move away from multiverse-driven plots and advanced Stark technology that featured in recent Spider-Man films. The studio says the film will put more emphasis on ordinary people, personal struggles and everyday neighborhood challenges instead of global-scale threats.
Brand New Day picks up after No Way Home, which left Peter erased from the lives of MJ, Ned, Happy Hogan and the Avengers. Marvel has not named the film’s main antagonist but descriptions of the project indicate the villain is likely to fit a street-level tone.
The film’s title references a major Spider-Man comic relaunch that presented a fresh start for the character. Marvel has not announced a release date or a full cast list and says it will provide production and promotional updates as they become available.
