Maden: Fnatic mismatch hurt form, eyes IGL role
Pavle ‘Maden’ Bošković attributes poor form at Fnatic to a role mismatch; he now serves as Illwill’s in-game leader and may pursue a full-time IGL role.
Pavle ‘Maden’ Bošković told an interviewer that his time at Fnatic prevented him from playing his usual game. He was assigned roles and positions he does not normally play and struggled to adapt to the team’s style.
He added that the mismatch hurt both his ability to fit into team plans and his individual performance. ‘This was actually the first team where I felt like I couldn’t understand how to play, how to help the team considering my positions,’ he recalled. ‘I was also not playing the best individually, I have to admit.’
Now leading Illwill as in-game leader, Maden described his belief that he can develop into a permanent IGL. He credited input from veteran player Snappi for encouraging that view. ‘I think I actually can be a good IGL,’ Maden said. He noted he may need more time in supporting leadership roles before taking full command: ‘Maybe I am not ready yet, maybe I need one or two years more as not an IGL, as a second voice, but I feel like somewhere in the future I can be an IGL.’
Maden discussed his career origins and the learning curve that comes with switching teams and responsibilities. As Illwill’s in-game leader, he is testing his leadership approach, gathering tactical input from more experienced players and aiming to rebuild his individual form after the period at Fnatic.
