m0NESY leads Falcons to 2-0 win over magic; final vs Spirit

Ilya ‘m0NESY’ Osipov scored 44 kills as Falcons defeated magic 2-0 in the PGL Astana semi-final on Saturday, advancing to the title match against Spirit on Sunday in Astana.

Falcons won Ancient and Dust2. Ancient was 6-6 at halftime with magic on the T side. In the second half, Falcons went on a 7-1 run with in-game leader Finn ‘karrigan’ Andersen directing the offense to close the map.

On Dust2, Osipov had 26 kills in 18 rounds, including a round-nine sequence that featured a knife kill followed by a clutch. Falcons closed rounds and held map control in the decisive phases of both maps.

Osipov finished the series 44-20 with a 104.4 average damage per round (ADR) and a 1.68 rating. Nikola ‘NiKo’ Kovač was 35-18 with a 90.8 ADR and a 1.49 rating. Finn ‘karrigan’ Andersen recorded 26-20, 73.3 ADR and a 1.13 rating. Maksim ‘kyousuke’ Lukin went 21-21 (67.3 ADR, 1.08) and René ‘TeSeS’ Madsen was 25-21 (76.7 ADR, 1.04).

For magic, Abdurakhim ‘mo0N’ Issam posted 28-30 with an 84.2 ADR and a 1.08 rating. Nikita ‘tenzy’ Kochenyuk finished 23-31 (65.9 ADR, 0.82). Andrey ‘AW’ Anisimov was 20-30 (51.8 ADR, 0.81). Svyatoslav ‘MaSvAl’ Masko went 14-29 (50.2 ADR, 0.66) and Vitaliy ‘sFade8’ Marushka was 15-31 (53.6 ADR, 0.63).

Falcons signed Osipov nearly a year ago and have not won a title since his arrival. Spirit enter the final with Danil ‘donk’ Kryshkovets carrying a 1.63 rating into the match. Spirit beat Falcons in the StarLadder Budapest Major quarter-finals and the IEM Rio semi-finals.

The PGL Astana final between Falcons and Spirit is scheduled for Sunday in Astana.
