Lynn Vision Clinches ACL Title, Qualifies for Esports World Cup

Lynn Vision defeated JiJieHao 3-1 in the Hero Esports Asian Champions League final in Shanghai on May 17, securing the ACL title, $80,000 in prize money and the Asian region’s automatic qualification for the Esports World Cup.

The Asian Champions League ran in Shanghai over the past week. The ACL is the sole regional qualifier for the Esports World Cup, a $2 million main event featuring 32 teams, which is preceded by a 128-team LAN qualifier.

Lynn Vision advanced through the ACL with a string of wins. The team opened with a 2-0 victory over Alter Ego on May 11, followed by a 2-1 win against Haunted House on May 12. Lynn Vision beat Kaleido 2-0 on May 13 and edged THUNDER dOWNUNDER 2-1 on May 16 to reach the final, where they prevailed 3-1 over JiJieHao.

The Esports World Cup and its LAN qualifier were originally scheduled for Aug. 7–23 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. There are indications the festival may be relocated to Paris because of the ongoing conflict in Iran, though organizers have not finalized plans. A venue change announced after the additional information deadline, set at ten months before a tier-one event, would require an exception from Valve; the developer has not been granting such exceptions since late last year. It is not yet clear how any change of venue would affect the Counter-Strike competition specifically.

Lynn Vision’s ACL victory guarantees the team a place in the 32-team World Cup field and confirms their participation in the event’s qualifying structure as organizers complete the global event schedule.
