Kursy switches from AWP to rifling at 3DMAX

3DMAX replaced Pierre “Ex3rcice” Bulinge with Jeremy “Kursy” Gast and moved the 24-year-old away from the AWP into a rifling position. Kursy returned to play after almost a year out and has taken part in four tournaments with his new team.

Kursy has said he prefers the rifle and is working to adapt to the different demands of a rifler. “I need to understand it more, it’s not finished, and I have a lot of progress to do,” he remarked, adding that rifle play has felt easier for him than AWPing. He described joining 3DMAX as a chance to play regularly: “I wanted to join a team just to play… it feels really, really great to be back on the server.”

The short time between signing and participating in events limited practice opportunities and the full transition into the new role. Kursy described variation in his performances, with some strong maps and some weaker ones, and linked that inconsistency to limited experience in the position and practice time. He is working with the coaching staff to improve reaction and decision-making.

Returning to a French-speaking lineup has eased communication and the learning process, Kursy said. He contrasted that with his time at GamerLegion, where he encountered language and style differences that made adaptation harder: “I just had trouble switching from a French team to an international team, because I never talked English in-game before.”

3DMAX has focused practice on Cache and has more matches on that map than many opponents. Kursy said the team is comfortable on Cache but noted recent losses there during the tournament: “We are comfortable on Cache, but we lost, I think, the two or three last maps we played there.”

At the BLAST Bounty event, 3DMAX reached the top eight and is set to face either MOUZ or Spirit in the next round after higher-seeded teams were eliminated. Kursy emphasized the team’s preparation and aim to earn points: “It’s not about who we’re playing, it’s about us, and we have to give everything against a top 50 team or a top three team.”

Kursy remains in a development phase at 3DMAX, focusing on daily improvement and gaining match experience as the team prepares for upcoming official fixtures.
