Cache returns to Active Duty map pool, replacing Overpass

Valve will replace Overpass with Cache in the Active Duty map pool after the Premier season ends on July 6, returning Cache to competitive play for the first time since 2019.
Valve will swap Overpass for Cache in the Active Duty map pool after the current Premier season concludes on July 6. Cache will rejoin the competitive rotation for the first time since it was removed in 2019.
Cache was taken out of official competition in 2019 when Vertigo entered the pool. Map designer Shawn “FMPONE” Snelling revealed a remake of Cache in 2025. Valve returned the reworked Cache map with an official in-game release in April.
The Active Duty map lineup after the change will be Dust2, Mirage, Inferno, Nuke, Ancient, Anubis and Cache. Tournament organizers are expected to adopt the updated pool for the next competitive season. The first top-tier event scheduled to use the refreshed rotation is BLAST Bounty, which begins on July 21.
Snelling wrote, “[Valve] reached out to buy it on day one of release,” describing Valve’s early interest following the remake’s launch.
Professional teams and event planners will need to include the remade Cache in practice schedules and veto strategies ahead of events that follow the July 6 change. Overpass will be removed from the Active Duty pool once the swap takes effect.
