HeavyGod: G2 must find why its level was low in Katowice

G2 missed the IEM Katowice playoffs after losing to PARIVISION, 1win and Natus Vincere. The result ended the team’s run of six notable playoff appearances in 2026 and kept it out of the arena stage at Spodek.
G2 lost all three matches in Katowice and never came close to securing a playoff place. Nikita “HeavyGod” Martynenko acknowledged that the team had not performed well enough.
“We wanted to be in playoffs, we wanted to play in Spodek,” HeavyGod said. “But we didn’t perform and then it means we don’t deserve it. And it’s simple as it is in CS, if you don’t play good, if your team plays bad, then you don’t win.”
HeavyGod described G2’s performance on Inferno as a mix of unlucky rounds and mistakes, including lost clutches. The team continued to believe it could win the map but could not maintain its level.
“It always sucks to lose and not go playoffs,” HeavyGod said. “I think as a team it’s tough. It’s not easy.”
G2 added Artem “r1nkle” Moroz during the season. HeavyGod said the new player still needs time to learn the team’s system and play style under captain Nemanja “huNter-” Kovač.
“There’s a lot of things in the system, in the play style, that it takes time in general,” HeavyGod said. “Obviously I don’t have a set date or something like that, but we need to do it so that it happens as fast as possible.”
The early exit gives G2 additional time to practice, although HeavyGod said the team would rather have competed in the playoffs. The team will review its performance in Katowice and examine why its level was below expectations.
